Cost of battery here in Canada is $169 here on Apple's site, but authorized dealers have quoted me from $269 to $320 to do it. No battery issues which would have been codes: PPT004, PPT006, PPT007. I've run Apple Diagnostics a few times over this period as well and says everytime: NO issues found. I've tried re-calibrating the battery also with no success. I've also run the Coconut Battery program and it states Device Age: 39 months / Health: 59% / Cycles: 248 Now computer running on battery will automatically shut down around 80%(!).Ĭharge Information: Cycle Count: 248 / Charge Remaining: 4088 / Fully Charged: Yes / Charging: No / Full Charge Capacity: 4209 / After plugging back in and charging to full I noticed (for the first time) that even though battery showed 100% the battery icon still shows charging and never shows the fully charged icon. First time I noticed was when I was running on battery power and suddenly the computer shut down with Battery status around 45%. How is it possible for a battery to depleted within 130 cycles when it is guaranteed as 1000 cycles?.Does apple diagnostics cover all sensors? If PFM006 is the only error returned, does that mean all sensors are working fine?.Could there be any relation between these three events (PFM006, Battery, Kernel_Task)?.Is the Kernel_task issue related to PFM006 (SMC)?.If battery is replaced, will this issue go away? Else could it be a faulty temperature sensor? Apple Diagnostics test revealed one issue PFM006 - SMC issue. When checked activity monitor, Kernel_Task shows 300 % of CPU. The system when connected to AC power turns on but it is running extremely slowly. Coconut Battery test shows that current capacity is 9 % of design capacity. ![]() Battery status is showing as "replace now". If I unplug from power source the system shuts down. I was running Windows via Bootcamp in heavy load, letting it discharge fully and charge repeatedly. My Macbook Air (2018) Retina battery has depleted within 130 cycles.
